Pin Up Girl Bowling Shirt

I was surfing our corporate master’s website when I stumbled across this scrumptious little shirt. Now who doesn’t love a pin up girl? I’m not talking about porn stars; I’m not talking about actresses who also happen to be pretty. I’m talking about that unique class of classy, beautiful women who are sometimes inexplicably famous and always look great in stills. Now, sometimes they can also be actresses but the pin ups have that something else.

The best part of pin up girls is often their wit. They know who they are, they know their role – at least as the world sees it – and they love to laugh at that.

  • I have got two reasons for success and I’m standing on both of them. – Betty Grable
  • I do know that God created us equal and we’re not living up to it. Jayne Mansfield
  • I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it. – Marilyn Monroe
  • Publicity can be terrible. But only if you don’t have any. – Jane Russell
  • Don’t keep a man guessing too long – he’s sure to find the answer somewhere else. – Mae West

Charlie Sheen’s Movies

With Charlie Sheen being the highest paid sitcom star on TV right now, it’s really kind of fascinating to look back and remember all the great movies in which he’s acted over the years as well.  What’s your favorite of his biggest hits?

(One note about this poll, it turns out that Charlie’s been in a lot of movie series.  Single titles here represent every movie from the series.)

That Charlie Sheen Signature

By now you’ve probably seen or heard of the Charlie Sheen shirts collection. Designed by Davinci, they reflect that great, retro casual style he wears on Two and a Half Men.

They reflect that Sheen signature – off the cuff, relaxed but somehow elegant. Here’s a handful of Charlie’s quotes in the same vein.

On winning a Golden Globe
“This is like a sober acid trip”

On the acting profession
“Usually in a battle sequence when a bomb is going off, you forget you’re acting.”

“There is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. And when you lose sight of what side you’re walking on, that’s when you are in trouble.”

“I don’t know. I want to go home at the end of the day and feel like I left a certain part of myself behind. You watch a Pacino performance, a DeNiro performance, you sit back in wonder and watch what they did. I’m curious as to what it would take for me to get to that place.”

“It’s hard to be specific about what parts I may have lost. But ultimately, it’s what I’m known for.”

On vampires (okay, it’s really about drinking)
“I was just tired – and sick and tired of being sick and tired, of living like a vampire.”

A Very Painful Two and a Half Men

It’s going to be a rough one tonight, folks.  We’ll be pouring extra large beers at the Lounge tonight while Two and a Half Men is on the TV over the bar.  I have a feeling that we’ll all going to need that little extra boost of courage to deal with the trauma.  Charlie’s fiance might have to get a breast reduction.

I know.  It’s too terrible for words.  I can’t go on; here’s the promo -

Beer Ad Tuesday – Jennifer Aniston and Heineken

Tuesdays suck. So, we’re launching Beer Ad Tuesdays where each week we’ll be posting some of our favorite funny beer ads here in the Lounge to take the edge off.

Extrapolating Coolness

Here in the lounge we have the upmost respect for people who work in food service. There is nothing fun about the work and anyone who can pull it off with grace and aplomb is aces in our book. Servers are at the top of that list – having to deal with often testy customers while sloshing their food and drinks back and forth in an incredibly tense work environment is worthy of anyone’s respect.

Excuse me for a moment, my drink is empty. Where the hell is that damn waiter?

Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh, right, servers and food service workers. Given our undying respect for them if they declare one of their customers to be cool then who are we to argue? Such is the case with Mohammaed A. Sekhani, a waiter at Gibsons Steakhouse in Chicago, and Johnny Depp.

Last week Depp and crew stopped in at Gibsons for a late meal. After spending around $4K on a meal Depp doubled that with the tip. Yep, Sekhani received a $4K tip. When asked about it later Sekhani said that Depp has been in Gibsons a lot recently. He said that, while he’s served other celebrities, Depp is his favorite and a ‘cool dude.’ Can’t argue with that.

But to take this one step further, we here at the lounge must extrapolate that Sekhani is pretty cool himself. One doesn’t get a $4K tip for being a crappy waiter.

Fake Celebrity Slap Fights

Posted by author | celebrity | Wednesday 3 June 2009 10:30 am

This definitely falls in the not cool category. Oh, sure, we’re supposed to think it’s cool. Ooo, look how the celebrities can laugh at themselves! But come on. They are playing on their rightly earned reputations for being whiny divas. So when they fake that then turn to us all and giggle the only buffoons in the house are them.

Case in point – the M&M/Bruno dust-up from the MTV award show the other night. M&M’s career would have been over years ago if it weren’t for his biannual celebrity spats. So when the headline showed up on Yahoo news the morning after I didn’t watch the MTV awards show I wasn’t surprised. In fact I barely noticed it – never heard of Bruno (He’s another of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters) and don’t care about M&M. But now we learn it was a fake fight and, apparently we’re all supposed to be laughing along.

Perhaps instead of showing us what a good sense of humor he has M&M should focus on not having any more fights with hand puppets and vegan DJs.

By the way, the article refers to a post on Scott Aukerman’s blog that spilled these beans. Don’t bother looking for it. For some reason, and without comment, that entry has been deleted from his blog. If you’re clever with the google you might be able to dig up the cached version; it’s pretty interesting.
