Charlie Watching – Wall Street Sequel Sans the Charlie

As the self-admittedly fascinated with Charlie Sheen we were quite excited here at the Lounge to hear that a sequel to Wall Street is in the works. In almost the same instant we were roundly and soundly disappointed because the Charlie won’t be in it. Not cool!

I know, it’s only natural. The end of the movie had Charlie’s character in such a position that to work him back into a plot that a) captured the nastiness of high finance and b) included Gekko (because what could this sequel be without him?) would be so convoluted that it would defy most audience’s ability to buy it.

But still! We want Charlie!

Ah well, even if it’s predictably sitcom-formulaic and embarrassingly sexist we still get to see the Charlie every week in Two and a Half Men so it’s not all bad. We’d just like to see him in a proper movie again.

Betty White and Beer Pong Grace

Anyone who’s turned on TV set during the last three decades or so knows who Betty White is. Recently she appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. During her appearance she wound up – as have many other women guests apparently – playing beer pong with Fallon. This scored her many cool points here in The Lounge.

Now, we’re a little ambivalent about Fallon’s coolness. Beer pong is definitely cool even if it does still retain a little bit of the frat house basement stink about it. But Betty White agreeing to fling ping pong balls and chug beer is most definitely cool! You go, girl! (By the way, we’re completely aware that it is totally uncool to use the phrase ‘you go, girl’ but what else could we say?)
