Okay, so it’s not a beer ad. But it’s still funny.

Pin Up Girl Bowling Shirt

Posted by author | bowling shirt, celebrity | Monday 16 November 2009 3:46 pm

I was surfing our corporate master’s website when I stumbled across this scrumptious little shirt. Now who doesn’t love a pin up girl? I’m not talking about porn stars; I’m not talking about actresses who also happen to be pretty. I’m talking about that unique class of classy, beautiful women who are sometimes inexplicably famous and always look great in stills. Now, sometimes they can also be actresses but the pin ups have that something else.

The best part of pin up girls is often their wit. They know who they are, they know their role – at least as the world sees it – and they love to laugh at that.

  • I have got two reasons for success and I’m standing on both of them. – Betty Grable
  • I do know that God created us equal and we’re not living up to it. Jayne Mansfield
  • I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it. – Marilyn Monroe
  • Publicity can be terrible. But only if you don’t have any. – Jane Russell
  • Don’t keep a man guessing too long – he’s sure to find the answer somewhere else. – Mae West

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cocktail

Posted by author | cocktails | Friday 13 November 2009 10:36 am

Yes, folks we survived another week.  Welcome to Friday!

I don’t know about you but this is one of those weeks that inspired me to drink.  To that end, and in honor of National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month, my drink of choice is a Peanut Butter and Jelly cocktail.

Once again, I’m lifting the recipe for this tasty treat from our favorite mixologist here in the lounge, Colleen Graham.

So, here we go.  Gather these:

  • A cocktail shaker
  • Frangelico liqueur
  • Chambord liqueur
  • Ice
  • A shot glass

Do this:

  1. Add equal parts Frangelico and Chambord – start with ¾ ounce of each and see where that takes you – to the shaker with some ice.
  2. Shake.
  3. Pour in the shot glass.
  4. Drink.
  5. Repeat.

What, you’re going to complain that this PB&J has no bread?  Have I explained our get-over-it policy here in the Lounge?  Let me know if you need a refresher on that one.

National Leopard Print Month

Posted by author | bowling shirt, holiday | Wednesday 11 November 2009 10:22 am

So, on Monday I declared it National Leopard Print Month here in the Lounge. I’m still not sure why I did that. I suppose I was drunk with power or perhaps just drunk but, we’re stuck with it now.

How shall we celebrate? Personally, I’ve been wrapped in my leopard print snuggie ever since the announcement. Of course our corporate sponsor would like me to point out the delightful leopard print bowling shirt available on their website. You’re strongly encouraged to be wearing one on your next visit to the Lounge.

How else can we celebrate National Leopard Print Month? Leave your suggestions in the comments section.

Beer Ad Tuesday – Hahn “What?”

There’s a funny series of ads from Hahn that feature beautiful women and doofy (it’s a word, derivative of doofus!) men. Here are a few.

Freakin’ November & Holidays

Raise your hand for National Pomegranate Month

Are you as surprised as I am that it’s November?  I know that we’re already into the second week but I’m still trying to deal with the fact.  Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away then we’re on to Black Friday and we hit the ground running to Christmas.

So, instead of playing that game, let’s focus on some of the more obscure holidays of November.  Let’s observe these  instead, and have our own little celebrations here in the Lounge.

Take your pick of things to celebrate:

  • November is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month.
  • It’s also National Pomegranate Month.
  • This week is National Split Pea Soup Week.
  • November 3rd was National Sandwich Day but if you want to celebrate now, well, you go right ahead.  I like roast beef on sourdough if you want to make one for me, too.
  • November 15th is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day.
  • and did you know that this is also National Leopard Print Month?

Okay, I made that last one up.  But what the hell?  Let’s go ahead and declare it anyway.  What do you say?  November is hereby National Leopard Print Month here in the Lounge.

Charlie Sheen’s Movies

With Charlie Sheen being the highest paid sitcom star on TV right now, it’s really kind of fascinating to look back and remember all the great movies in which he’s acted over the years as well.  What’s your favorite of his biggest hits?

(One note about this poll, it turns out that Charlie’s been in a lot of movie series.  Single titles here represent every movie from the series.)
